Starr + Neil = Married! A sneak peek… {Boone Wedding Photographer}

Red, White and Green Photography asked me to second shoot this gorgeous mountain wedding. Just wanted to share a couple of the photos I captured with you. Congrats Starr and Neil!

Nicole’s Maternity Session {Charlotte Maternity Photographer}

A couple of weeks ago, I met Nicole, Josh and Kai to do a maternity session. Nicole wanted to do something a little less traditional and more candid. We ended up going to a park in Charlotte with her husband and son Kai. They laid out a blanket and played with Kai and their pretty boxer Lola. (You know you are singing it in your head… “her name was Lola, she was a show girl”.) I used my 85 fixed lens so I could get pretty far away and not interrupt their genuine interaction because it makes for the best photos. You met Kai when I posted photos from a shoot we did where Kai wore suspenders and jeans and we took him to railroad tracks. (You can see it by clicking here.) The one thing that stands out to me every time I have the privilege of being around Kai is this little boy LOVES to laugh. It is the cutest thing in the world. Well that, and hearing a child who is just beginning to populate his vocabulary say your name out of nowhere. So adorable.

Kai is very excited to be a big brother. When asked what’s in mommy’s belly he’ll tell you “baby sister” with excitement and aw. It’s great. This family is so down to earth and happy, it’s going to be fun to see it just get bigger with the arrival of “baby sister”. Congrats Nicole, Josh and Kai. Can’t wait to meet her in August!

Kai loves family hugs. You can tell by the excitement and joy on his face below.

So from the day I shot this session and saw this next photo on my camera it has made me laugh. Every single time I look at it. And I continue to do so just to get that happy feeling. As Kai and Josh played a fun little game I would assume they play often, Kai got very into it and was quite animated. I absolutely LOVE this photo.

I could have edited out the scratches on Kai’s face but I think it captures the essence of little boys.

After our shoot at the park we headed back to their house to cool off before heading to another location. Unfortunately it began to pour down rain so we stayed in a for a little while and hung out. I snapped a few more photos before heading home. Sometimes I really feel like the best photos can come from spontaneity.

A close family member of Nicole’s handmade these little roller skate booties for the new baby. They are too cute!
