Grace Weimer – 4 Years

There is something about a child… the way they approach things, the way the indulge things. I love being able to capture a moment when I child is not aware of the camera and is truly involved in the moment. This is my niece Grace. She is truly an individual.

The next three photos are the moments I was speaking of earlier, when a child forgets the camera and gets caught up in the moment. I love it.

A special thanks to Black’s Produce on Highway 16 in Denver, NC for letting us shoot at their location.

Camp What?

When I started dating my fiance, Corey, he introduced me to a tradition that had been part of his life for, well… his whole life. It’s an annual event in Denver, NC called Camp Meeting. “Camp what?” you say. Basically, there are permanent camp grounds in Denver, where each year members of local churches set up in “tents”. The “tents” being more like cabins.

The only downfall of Camp Meeting is that it happens to fall during the hottest two weeks of the year, but the good far exceeds this one downfall. Ham biscuits are a main course, even for dinner. The hum of an ice cream maker is almost always evident. And “The Shack”, a concession stand run by the local high school’s booster club, is a must. Not only do they serve the greats – burgers, corn dogs, cheese fries, ice cream, and snow cones – but they sell countless numbers of inexpensive toys for the kids. I took my camera and tried to grab a few photos of the kids while we were there.

Family Matters

It’s finally here – the beginning of my life as pixels. I have had an obsession with taking photographs (ask anyone I know) for years and years. Point and shoot cameras have always managed to keep me occupied, however, I knew it would not hold me over forever. So I broke down and purchased my first “real” camera. It just so happened to be the day of my father’s birthday, so I spent the afternoon getting shots of my family relaxing and enjoying each other’s company. So here they are: the first images shot with my new camera. There is very little retouching, but I hope to experiment more in the future.
