7 Year Old Asks to Help Poor People for Christmas

As many of you know, I ADORE my nieces Ava and Grace. I’ve said before how much they teach me to be a better person and are so inspiring. This year Ava asked if this Christmas they could help poor people. This is just a simple example of how HUGE this child’s heart really is. I gave $20 to help her so far.

Ava, if you are reading this, I pledge to give you another $5 for every photo shoot I have in December. From what I have booked, I’ll be able to help a bunch more!

If everyone could take 40 seconds to watch the video of Ava telling about what she wants to do, I would really appreciate it! Please find it in your heart to donate $5 to help Ava help the poor. There’s nothing I could want more for Christmas than to see Ava’s Christmas wish come true and show her that one person, big or small, young or old can make a difference!!

Tangled in Lights and Hung up High

Happy Friday! As we attempted to put lights on our Christmas tree for the second time this week, and failed for the second time this week, I took a moment to play with two of my favorite loves – my camera and my Roxy. I saw a post once where a baby was wrapped in Christmas lights and although I still want to do this, I do not have a child that most would consider as such, however I do have a child that is a family member of ours none-the-less. So I shamelessly bribed her to lay down with juicy chicken table scraps in a pile of oversized lights. I had to share one of the photos I managed to snap before she abandoned her post.

And! I have one more thing to share because I was so excited when I saw it. This week I had the pleasure of having shoot number 3 with one of my favorite families and walked in the door to see this beautiful sight: a 30″x40″ canvas print of one of my previous shoots with them hung in their little boy’s play room. One of my dreams in life was to have art hung in a gallery somewhere. I’ve had this dream since I can remember – some beautiful piece of artwork I created being hung in a prestigious gallery and admired by visitors for at least a few months if I was lucky. BUT THIS IS SO MUCH BETTER! It felt so wonderful to walk in this client’s home and see that the life I captured through my lens was something they looked at every day. Something they would cherish for years to come. I felt so blessed at that moment so what else would I do but take a picture of it to share with you!

I pray you took my advice and are out there pursuing your dream – whatever it is. Trust me. It’s worth every drop of blood, bead of sweat and every single salty tear.
